Coaching Philosophy
Our philosophy at PowerPlay is shaped by Kevin's own experience using video, which revealed details and habits he had never been taught. PowerPlay is a pro video coaching platform, making it accessible to every player in our community. Your current coach sees the game. PowerPlay sees the details they can't — the micro-moments between plays, the split-second decisions, the small things you're fully in control of that stack together to change the outcome of a shift. That's where we work. It's not a replacement for your coach. It's everything they don't have time to see.

Kevin grew up in Winnipeg, developing his game on outdoor rinks before playing collegiately at the University of Alaska Anchorage. After four years in the organizations of the Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets, he built a 12-year professional career across Europe, competing in top leagues in Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, and Germany. Following his playing career, Kevin founded Cascade Hockey, a player development company focused on individual development for players ranging from young athletes to NHLers. He also served as a development coach in the USHL and worked as a professional scout in the NHL.

Deon Kidd

Deon brings an international hockey background and a strong passion for player development and relationship building. Born in Bremerhaven, Germany, he developed his game in North America before playing professionally in Germany's DEL2 and Oberliga. After his playing career, Deon transitioned into coaching and athlete development, where he has focused on helping players and families navigate their development journey. His work includes video coaching, breaking down game film to help players understand positioning, decision-making, and hockey sense at a deeper level. His experience across North American and European hockey gives him a unique perspective and an ability to build strong connections with athletes, coaches, and organizations at all levels of the game.
Goalie Coach
Matt Zaba

Matt is a former professional goaltender and has experience at every level of the game. He spent seven seasons as the goaltending coach for the Tri-City Storm of the USHL, coaching three USHL Goalies of the Year and four NHL draft picks. Before joining the Storm, Zaba served as the goaltending coach for his alma mater, the Colorado College Tigers. He also has American Hockey League coaching experience. Prior to coaching, Matt spent eight seasons as a professional goaltender — including an NHL debut with the New York Rangers and five years in Europe. He won an Italian League Championship with HC Bolzano before concluding his playing career in Austria's top pro league.
